When is the best time to take my senior photos?

There is no specific "best time".  It really depends on what sort of environment you want and your availability.  I will work with you to select a time frame that meets your needs by discussing locations (tall grass and wild flowers are seasonally found) and commitments (if you play a sport or are involved in an activity adding a senior session may be too chaotic during that season).   I will ask all the right questions to help you plan accordingly and am familiar with yearbook deadlines as well if you need images for your schools book.

What iF college plans aren't finalized but we want to shoot in the Fall?

No problem!  I offer "micro" college reveal sessions in the Spring; once in April and again in May. These sessions are super quick and are available only for CKP clients.  For Luxe clients the session fee is waived and the reveal is included with your package!

Where do I change my clothes?  In my car?

Absolutely not!  I have a pop up dressing room for you to change privately.  If we are near a public restroom with air conditioning, we will utilize that to give you a small break from the heat.  If we are in a location that does not have easy access to restrooms, you will use the pop up to ensure total privacy!

how long will it take to get my photos?

A sneak peek will be posted within 24 hours to my Instagram stories.  I will tag you if you would like but I always ask first.  Your fully edited gallery will be delivered within 10 days of your session but most often it is sent within even faster in just a few days!  I know how excited you get to see your images and I get just as excited to edit them so I start on them right away.

What if the weather looks bad on my session day?

I watch the weather constantly leading up to your session.  Weather in Texas is always changing so I try not to make a decision until noon the day of your session.  If you are having hair or makeup done we will decide in enough notice that you can postpone your session with you HMUA.   If rain or high winds are forecasted, we will take that into account.  Morning rain may mean your site will be too wet even if the rain stops in time.  Extreme temperatures will also lead to us discussing if we continue as planned or need to postpone.  Texas is hot and heat advisories will be taken into account and breaks will be given to get out of the heat if temperatures are extreme. I will be in constant contact leading up to your session if it looks like we need to reschedule. I want your images to be perfect so I will always suggest we postpone if I think it is necessary but ultimately that decision will be up to you.  

What gear is used?

I shoot with 2 Sony Mirrorless bodies so if I have any equipment issues I always have a backup! I also shoot your images onto 2 memory cards simultaneously for extra precaution.  As soon as I get home, I backup your session and I NEVER reuse memory cards until your final images have been delivered to you.   I am comfortable using off camera flash if needed-whether shooting indoors or outdoors so you can rest assured that you will have the best lighting for your senior session.

Can't I just ask a friend/family member to take some photos for me?  She has a camera.

I love when others are learning photography (I was a student once too!).  But your senior photos may not be the best time for someone to practice!  As an experienced photographer I not only understand camera settings but I know how to utilize lighting, posing and editing as well.  This is a moment in time that you will always want to remember and your images should reflect that.  I specialize in senior photos and over the years have found many locations we can utilize.  I know how to pose you to show your best self and how to use lighting to maximize any location.  I mainly use natural light but I do have and use off camera flash when needed.
